This summer, month of July, I'm hoping to follow Huck Finn's route down the Mississippi River. It's a documentary project, and I'm combining writing and photography, possibly for a publication at Duke University (where I go to school), possibly for a short book. I've got three people coming with me--a photographer, an artist, me (the writer), and one other. With any luck, the trip will be fully funded through a series of grants we've applied for through Duke and elsewhere. We're looking to hire someone for three to four weeks to bring us down the river in a raft. It can be any kind of raft. Motor preferred.

We had looked at doing it ourselves, but after speaking with many people on this site and doin independent research, we decided that with the barges and potential for bad weather, we'd prefer to have a pro--or at least someone who knows the river well--with us.

Wanted to see if any of you had encountered anyone in your travels who might be interested in such a trip. We have *some* money though not an extraordinary amount. We're obviously paying, plus food, plus board if we stay in any hotels/hostels along the way (though we'll probably be camping a lot). As this is a documentary project we do plan on making three to four stops, each two to three days. Preferably guide already has a raft, or has easy access to one.

I can supply more details if you've got questions, particularly on the specifics of the documentary. If you know anyone who might be interested, rafting/canoeing experience required, let me know, any help would be greatly appreciated.
